The Bloody Mary is one of the most well-known cocktails globally, often hailed as the ultimate hangover cure. Its origins can be traced back to the 1930s, where it's believed that Fernand "Pete" Petiot, a bartender at the King Cole Bar in New York City, created the recipe that we know today. While other claims attribute its creation to actor George Jessel, Petiot is most widely credited with developing the drink’s signature blend of vodka, tomato juice, and savory spices.
Traditionally enjoyed as a brunch cocktail, the Bloody Mary is popular for its restorative properties, with many considering it a "liquor-soaked breakfast" due to its complex mix of spices and hearty ingredients. Its customizable nature—allowing bartenders and enthusiasts to experiment with different levels of spiciness, flavors, and garnishes—has cemented its place as a versatile favorite for morning or early afternoon gatherings.
